Our Mission — Improving the Home Screen

With the average person spending approximately 5 hours a day on their smartphone, these devices have become an integral part of our everyday lives. As the gateway to all apps and functions, the home screen plays a crucial role in this experience; it is your smartphone's 'digital home'. Despite its importance, many people are not fully utilizing its potential and often settle for a default layout that doesn’t meet their needs or preferences. Launcher apps are among the few apps everyone uses but frequently go unnoticed.

There are three key challenges most users face with their home screen:

The Story Behind Niagara Launcher

How It All Started

Peter started Niagara Launcher in 2016 as a hobby project in his parents’ basement. He wanted a home screen that was clean, simple, and free of unnecessary clutter. What started as a small personal project quickly caught the attention of the Android community, and the positive response showed that many people were looking for the same thing.

With the growing support, Peter brought his university friend Max on board as a developer. Together, they refined Niagara Launcher and took the next step, founding a small indie studio. In the early days, they continued working from the basement, constantly improving and expanding the launcher. But as the project kept growing, so did the team.

Over time, more friends joined in, each contributing in different areas like design, business development, and marketing. What started as a one-person side project slowly turned into something much bigger. Today, we’re a team of six, working full-time from our own office. We’re still indie, still self-funded, and still committed to making Niagara Launcher even better with every update.
