Wallpaper Missing in Theme Editor

How to Show Your Current Wallpaper in the Theme Editor

Your home screen wallpaper looks fine, but the Theme Editor doesn't show it in the preview? Here's why that happens and how to fix it.

Theme Editor with wallpaper missing from the theme preview area.

Good to know: this only affects the Theme Editor preview and saving a theme to My Themes. Your home screen wallpaper is still showing correctly.

Why the Theme Editor can't see it

The Theme Editor can only work with wallpapers that were set through Niagara Launcher.

If your current wallpaper was applied a different way, for example through your phone's settings or a wallpaper app, the Theme Editor has no access to the image file itself and can't show it in your theme.

You can still apply a theme with that wallpaper to your home screen, but you won't be able to view or share the theme or save it to My Themes.

How to fix this

Re-apply your wallpaper through Niagara Launcher, and it'll show up in the Theme Editor from then on.

  1. Open your gallery app and make sure the image is saved there.
  2. Open Niagara Launcher and start creating a new theme in the Theme Editor.
  3. When prompted, select the wallpaper from your gallery.
  4. The wallpaper will now appear in the theme preview, and you can save the full theme to My Themes.

An alternative way to bring a wallpaper in

If you already have the image in your gallery, you can also share it directly to Niagara Launcher from there. Open the image, tap your gallery app's share option, and select Niagara Launcher. The wallpaper becomes available to the Theme Editor right away.
