How the Suggestion Algorithm Works
Niagara Launcher automatically suggests, and pins often launched apps to the bottom of your home screen.
How many suggestions does Niagara Launcher make?
Usually, Niagara Launcher suggests as many apps that the sum of your favorites and suggestions does not exceed eight. However, the algorithm may show additional suggestions if it notices an app is often used and disregards the limit.
Does Niagara Launcher suggest apps that are in a favorized folder?
Yes. Placing an app in a folder doesn’t affect the suggestions algorithm. That’s because if you launch an app very frequently, it’s probably better to have it directly in the favorites list instead of in a folder. If you don't want that, you can long-press on the suggestion to hide it.
I frequently launch an app, but it's not suggested - why?
Niagara Launcher only suggests apps that are not already on your home screen; maybe all of the suggestions Niagara Launcher would make are already there.
In addition, suggestions you hide, still take up a "suggestion slot", more on that here. We might change this behavior in the future.
Moreover, the algorithm will suggest apps approximately one day after installing Niagara Launcher. Clearing Niagara's data will reset the algorithm.
How can I disable suggestions?
- You can remove suggestions individually by long-pressing one and tapping on "Stop suggesting."
- You can disable the suggestion algorithm altogether through Niagara Settings > Features > Turn off Suggest often used apps
